The new line by Serge Lutens called Matin Lutens includes 3 fragrances (L'Eau, Parole d'eau and Dans le bleu qui pétille) that take us on a journey to childhood memories, carefree summer mornings, associated bathing rituals, sun rays, the smell of soap, water or freshly ironed clothes... All in a very subtle, minimalist but refined form that captivated me especially with the scent of Dans le bleu qui pétille. This is my favorite fragrance from this series, which turned out to be a great surprise.
When I see typical marine notes in the notes of a fragrance (seaweed, kelp), I imagine such a smell quite differently and usually approach it with great distance. I am afraid of classic salty-musky scents, which in my opinion are often quite bland. It's quite different here. Dans le bleu qui pétille is perhaps the most unique marine scent I have dealt with. It's a melancholic walk on the shores of a restless sea, when the sky is overcast and its roar is loud enough to turn into silence ... In our head. At the end of this walk, the sky clears a little and the sun's rays emerge here and there, drying our skin covered with salt water and sea sand particles. Sea accords, laminaria seaweed mingle with woody notes and coriander seeds, which I think play a very important role here. They make the fragrance vibrate on the skin, give it some sharpness and character. Incense is not mentioned in the composition, but the whole thing has a slight incense undertone that I really like ... from the first smell.
