If there's one place I'd like to teleport to right now, it's Portugal. I love coming back there, it's a beautiful country with a much friendlier climate than Poland (today I saw the first snow...) What would I do then? I would order a coffee, accompanied by an incredibly delicious, time-honored Portuguese sweet pastry - Pastéis de Nata, or more precisely Pastéis de Belém, because they were invented in the nineteenth century in Belém, next to the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (the Heironymites Monastery). You can buy them all over Portugal, but in Belém they are the best because they are baked following the old 'secret recipe' of the monastery. How about making a little Portugal at home?
I have never been a fan of gourmand perfumes, perhaps because most of the scents I have known (with a few exceptions) seemed very synthetic and cheap. However, it is possible to create perfumes that fall into the gourmand category, very sweet but not sticky, and at the same time unique and extremely sophisticated. Roja Dove has managed this feat with Sweetie Aoud. If we look at other perfumes built around the precious raw material oud, Sweetie Aoud is a very surprising composition. This smoky gourmand opens with a mouth-watering Patisserie Accord accompanied by bergamot and artemisia, reminding me of the smell emanating from the aforementioned famous bakery in Belém. This accord accompanies us throughout the evolution of this perfume, but it is most intense (really intense) at the beginning, which can be a shocking sensation for some people. You also feel very clearly the Rose Centifolia (Rose de Mai), which itself has a very complex fragrance profile. Combined with incense, balsamic resins (labdanum, gurjum), spices (cardamom, cumin) and woody notes with oud that settles down behind the refined sweetness, the result is a very deep, mysterious blend that will lift your mood in no time.
This is my favorite gourmand perfume, which I consider a perfect unisex leaning towards the masculine and one of the most longlasting perfumes I own.
