Fragrance description

If there was one scent that positively surprised me last year, it was definitely Vetivera by Le Couvent, created by the famous Jean-Claude Ellena. Although the name of the person responsible for creating these perfumes suggested to me that they would be of high quality, I was afraid that it might be a dull and unexciting scent. I was pleasantly mistaken.

Vetivera, as the name suggests, is a scent with a thematic motif in the form of the naturally sounding vetiver, which appears from the first seconds and stays with us until the end. Jean Claude Ellena, however, managed to avoid the peppery motif of vetiver dressed in grapefruit or bitter orange, and although there is some pepper, it adds expression to the slightly creamy vetiver without overpowering it. It is also not covered by the appearance of citrusy bergamot or a base based on cedarwood. Each of these elements is noticeable, but vetiver takes the lead, green, natural, slightly creamy also due to cedarwood. Its natural tone captivated me the most because it smells extremely natural, and its pepperiness and freshness are very well balanced.

Did you know that in Mali, women drink vetiver brew before meeting their partner because it acts as an aphrodisiac and additionally, after consumption, their sweat produced during physical intimacy with their partner smells of vetiver? This fact was one of the inspirations for Ellena to create Vetiver but not the only one. Something that inspired the author was also a sailing trip, during which the wood of the boat smelled of vetiver, and the combination of the scent of this wood with the scent of the ocean and the oil used to preserve the boat created a mixture that stuck in the perfumer's memory, and this memory he tried to convey in Vetivera.

Although this scent is definitely masculine in my opinion, I think many women could also like it. From my perspective, I can say that every time I use it, my wife soon asks me "what smells so nice?" - yes, it's Vetivera and another surprise, because not all of my perfumes with a similar profile receive such a reaction. In summary, Vetivera is a very good and versatile fragrance with a thematic motif of vetiver, which in my opinion is suitable both for everyday wear to work and for a special date.
