Houbigant Paris is one of the historic perfume brands (founded in 1775 by French perfumer Jean-François Houbigant) with a great heritage and tradition. After joining the Perris Group in 2015 and revitalized, the Houbigant brand is experiencing its second youth, offering perfumes adapted to today, modern but with the classic DNA of the brand.
Bois Mystique, as the name suggests, is primarily a woody fragrance, and the dominant element is cedarwood with an admixture of guaiac and cashmere wood. So it's not strictly a barefoot walk through a mysterious forest, but rather a forest enclosed in a crystal ball that you can look into and enjoy the scent that rises from it at sunset. It is an imaginary exotic forest, a figment of a rich imagination. It is tamed austerity in a luxurious, refined setting. Classic fougere elements combined with chypre elements. The fragrance is very noble, like a well-tailored suit for an elegant gentleman.
Would it also suit a woman? Yes, it is a unisex perfume, but in my opinion it is still a little masculine. The fragrance has sharper elements, like fresh, vibrant ginger with citrus in the opening, surrounded by spices, subtle incense, aromatic green notes like cypriol or davana, which combine perfectly with warm woody notes, their delicate sweetness and dryness.
