Fragrance description

Histoires de Parfums, founded by perfumer Gerald Ghislain more than 20 years ago, is one of the first niche perfume brands I discovered. The very original and unusual design of their bottles caught my attention at the shelf in the perfumery, then the idea of an olfactive library telling stories from the past also sounded very interesting.

1740 is one of the brand's bestsellers. A dark, deep, slightly balsamic and sexy leathery scent with a woody-green twist and the vintage vibe. In fact, it's not the leather that's a standout note here. To my nose, it's immortelle and patchouli. The birch and labdanum give a kind of smokiness, while cardamom and coriander mixed with patchouli and artemisia create a spicy herbal atmosphere with the warmth of vanilla that emerges at the end of this journey. Unisex fragrance leaning towards masculine with good longevity and moderate sillage.
