Les Eaux de Chanel is a ravishing series of summer fragrances created by Olivier Polge to take us on a journey to the places Gabrielle Chanel loved to visit or was associated with during her life.
The goal was to compose subtle, almost cologne-like fragrances that refer to places like Venice, Edinburgh, Biaritz, the French Riviera, Paris or Deauville, which I will tell you about. It is a journey to these places from Paris, highlighted by the class and chic that each of these fragrances has. Deauville is a charming seaside town surrounded by idyllic villages, where Gabrielle Chanel opened her first fashion boutique in 1913. How does the fresh air smell in this Normandy town that has become a symbol of effortless elegance?
It is neither a particularly durable, nor a particularly strong, nor a complicated composition. It's is rather predictable, but as always with Chanel, very good quality. That was the idea. The spirit of the brand, its DNA is clearly felt here. Juicy orange mixes with the green aspects of a slightly bitter and slightly spicy basil and petitgrain. The scent is sweet but not cloying, with patchouli hovering in the background of this vibrant cocktail, slightly similar to Coco Mademoiselle, but Paris-Deauville is a completely unisex scent, perhaps only slightly feminine. In the heart, in addition to the synthetic white flower note of hedione, rose and jasmine add depth, but for me these notes are not very noticeable.
Extremely pleasant to wear, universal, even perfect for summer walks on long beaches.
