Berdoues is a family brand with a great tradition in cosmetics and perfumery. Founded in 1902 by Guillaume Berdoues, then the know-how has been passed on through four generations (since 2015 it is Sophie Berdoues).
Hoja de Cuba is a sweet-tobacco themed fragrance from the Grands Crus Collection, dedicated to the memories of travels to the interesting places of the world. A hot summer day, a friendly and smilling man in a vintage American car on a colorful Havana street, smoking a Cuban cigar. Old, colorful buildings around you, people on the streets dancing the rumba or a huge tobacco field "somewhere in the middle of nowhere" in Cuba - that's what you can imagine to feel the vibe of this fragrance. The allspice is present from the start and gradually fades, surrounded by the dry Haitian Vetiver, which is so subtle and even hard to detect, everything on a sweet cherry-like pipe tobacco base. The house only states three notes used in this composition, but I think there is also a hint of vanilla in the tobacco accord for a slightly balsamic effect. Great especially for fall and winter as it might get too sweet in the summer heat.
