Grapefruit is one of the most widely-used fragrance notes that is present as a top note in many perfumes. Like other citrus fruits, the peel of grapefruit is very aromatic and it is from it that the essential oil is obtained (through cold-press), which is later used in the perfume industry, cosmetics, aromatherapy and a lot more.
The aroma of grapefruit is bitter, herbaceous, slightly woody, sharp, aromatic, refreshing with a touch of sweetness. Pink grapefruit has slightly darker scent than yellow grapefruit.
