Orris is one of the rarest and most valuable perfume ingredients. Orris root (rhizoma iridis) is the root of Iris germanica and Iris pallida. Orris is odourless when harvested and takes several years (3-4) to mature and produce orris butter (orris concrete). The fragrance profile: powdery, sweet, soft, purple, slightly earthy.
