Information
Lavender is a plant of the mint family, which includes 41 species (among them Lavandula Stoechas, Lavandula Officinalis, Lavandula Spica). In ancient Rome it symbolized purity and peace and was often added to baths. It is found mostly in southern Europe, northeastern Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, the Canary Islands, Somalia, and India. Lavender likes to grow on dry slopes. Lavender has many beneficial healing and cosmetic properties and has also been used in cooking and perfumes for years.
Depending on how it is extracted for the perfume industry, lavender can smell slightly different. There are two methods of extraction: steam distillation and extraction with volatile solvents.
