Information

The Iris is a plant that belongs to the iris family and is native to Europe, North Africa, East Asia, the United States, and Russia. There are many species of this flower (several hundred), although in perfumery the most common are Iris Pallida and Iris Germanica.

What does Iris smell like?

The scent of iris is very airy, but mainly powdery, floral, slightly woody, warm, enveloping, dry and somewhat reminiscent of the scent of violets.

Iris Pallida

The iris flowers have a wonderful fragrance, but the real treasure lies in the iris roots, called rhizomes or stems. Extracting the fragrance essence from the rhizomes of Iris pallida requires a lot of time (about 5-6 years). Only then, when the roots are dried and stored under special conditions, they begin to emit their amazing fragrance. For this reason, their price is very high.

Iris Germanica

This type of iris is much easier to grow, but obtaining the fragrance from the rhizomes also requires several years of processing to achieve optimal quality. The fragrance of this type of iris is not as refined as that of the Iris pallida species, but it still impresses with its beauty.
