Information
The guaiac tree is a plant of the Zygophyllaceae family, found in dry areas of the subtropical zone of North, Central and South America. However, guaiac tree oil, as we know it in perfumes and cosmetics, is not extracted from this plant. It is actually an oil extracted from Bulnesia Sarmientoi, also known as Palo Santo.
Guaiac wood oil is obtained by steam distillation of a mixture of wood and palo santo sawdust.
What does guaiac wood smell like?
Its woody scent captivates with its warmth and depth. Its smell is slightly smoky, exotic, slightly green and reminiscent of birch tar.
