Carrot is one of the most commonly used vegetables in cooking. It turns out that this vegetable, actually carrot seeds, is also used in perfumery.
Carrot seeds are used in perfumery as an essence obtained by steam distillation. In perfumery, they are usually used in powder compositions as an addition to iris or violet notes. Carrot seeds are often used as a substitute for orris root (rhizome), as they are much cheaper.
