Blackcurrant is a berry with translucent flesh, red or green color and bitter-sweet taste. The fruits are small, black-blue, spherical and have an intense flavor when fully ripe. The berry is covered with hairs and its flesh contains several small seeds. Both the flowers and the leaves are used for the production of scented essence.
Blackcurrant in perfumery is a note between green and red fruits, the scent is fresh, slightly floral, sour, woody and balanced between sweetness and acidity. Blackcurrant leaves also have an odor that some people associate with the smell of cat urine.
