Information
Amyris essential oil is distilled from a small bushy tropical evergreen Amyris balsamifera tree, native to Haiti, which also grows wild in the Dominican Republic's Bahoruco Forest.
Amyris smells slightly sweet, woody, balsamic, and slightly fruity. Perfumers use if for its fixative virtues, because it prolongs the scent of other extracts. The scent of Amyris can vary greatly depending on the age of the oil and the wood being distilled. It can be very similar to sandalwood. In addition, sometimes there are smoky notes. Very durable, although it quickly loses its depth, which is clearly different from sandalwood oil, which gains depth and sweetness as the hours pass.
